Peter Pan

http://img2-2.timeinc.net/people/i/2014/news/140203/peter-pan-600.jpg
This week Peter Pan, the musical, will be on television! I cannot wait! I love everything about the story of Peter Pan - the costumes, the characters (especially Captain Hook), the music, the magic. I could read it and watch it over and over again.

What is one story that you could read or watch over and over? What is so special about it?

Please note that I put the Peter Pan, in italics. Whenever you are writing the name of a book, it should be in italics.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is almost time for the first big break of the school year - Thanksgiving! For many of us we will be spending time relaxing, eating, visiting with family and friends. But, it is also a time for us to think about those things for which we are thankful. What things are you thankful for? Your family? Your friends? A nice school and good teacher? Good health? Tell us what you are thankful for and what you will be doing over this Thanksgiving break.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Super Powers!

http://www.kids-partyshop.co.uk/superheros-party-supplies
This weekend I saw a story about a girl who wished she could fly. It made me wonder what it would be like to have a super power. If you could have just one super power, what would you select? Amazing eyesight? Great hearing? Strength? Speed? Ability to read someone's mind? How would you help the world with that super power?

Next week is my best friend's birthday and I would love some suggestions from all of you as to how I can help her celebrate it. What would make your birthday special? Can you give me some ideas I can use to make her day special?

The Weather is Changing!

http://www.freemake.com/blog/best-weather-apps-for-your-iphone/
Now that it is autumn the weather seems to change a lot each day. The mornings are cool but the afternoons still can be fairly warm. You start the day with a jacket but can end it wearing shorts. And, did you know that this weekend we will move the clocks back one hour? That means it will be dark much earlier so get out and enjoy the sunshine after school this week.

Did you ever wonder what the weather was like on the day you were born? Click here for a website on which you can select your birth date and zip code to find out a bit about the weather that special day. Tell us about it. Was it snowing, raining, sunny? Was it hot or cold? Let us know what you learned.

Keep Moving!

http://www.trainbodyandmind.com/2011/04/children-exercising/

The first lady, Michelle Obama, has a program to keep Americans moving so we will all be healthier. The program is called Let's Move and it encourages children to get 60 minutes of activity each day.

Sixty minutes sounds like a lot but it really is not if you add up all the things you do each day. How long does it take you to walk to your bus stop? How many minutes do you spend each day in recess? Do you walk or ride your bike after school? Do you play sports? All those things can add up quickly to 60 minutes.

What do you do to stay active? Do you walk, ride your bike, play a sport, swim, do gymnastics, karate, dance, or play active games with friends? There are so many things you can do. Tell us about your favorites.
