Monuments

A monument is a structure built to commemorate (recall or show respect for) a person, place, or event. You can find monuments many places. Here are some famous U. S. monuments. 

This week write about a monument you have seen or heard about that you found interesting. Tell us why you thought it was so interesting.

I was lucky enough to be able to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I had seen many pictures but had no idea how large it was. When we climbed to the top, we could see for miles. We were so high up, the people below looked like little ants! Here is a picture I took of it so you can see just how large it is!

  3. i have seen the statue of liberty in like pictures that show them in the pictures my aunt saw it when she went on a trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I saw the statue of liberty.....although the line was too long and i couldn't go to Ellis Island.(I think thats how you spell it???)Or even go to the Statue Of Liberty because of the line :(.

  5. When I was a baby I got to see the Space Needle. It is very big. my parents went there for a romantic dinner. About 8 years later my nama sent me a minature version of the Space Needle I keep it on my nightstand.

  7. i saw the Statue of Liberty in New York.i went on a taxi boat to go see see it. The Statue of liberty is one of the biggest statues in the world(i think).

  8. I saw the washington monument and, the really big buildings in washington d.c. , and alot of other stuff like metal people and momorials and stuff !!!!!!!!

  10. The Eiffel Tower is a gorgeus place. But I have never seen it in person.Only on TV on Ratatouey the movie.

    I SAW THE THE WHITE HOUSE IN WASHINGTON DC. IT WAS SO NICE,AND I HEARD THAT YOU CAN NOT EVEN GO ON THE GRASS! I ALSO SAW THAT THERE WAS GARDS ALL AROUND THE WHITE HOUSE (AND THEY WERE ON THE ROOF TOO!) AND THATS THE TIME I WENT TO SEE THE WHITE HOUSE

  13. I got to see the out side of the White house. It was really cool(what I could see anyway). Only a little bit was showing, so I only got to see the top half.I was standing on a hill, so I should have gotten to see the whole thing, but I couldn't:( I would say what was blocking the bottom half, but I can't remember.

  18. I was in and walked to the very top of the Asseteague Lighthouse in VA. I looked out and saw water all over the place. Then I looked down, way down and saw sand and trees. It was awesome!

  19. I was able to find the Lincoln Memorial Washington DC.The Lincoln Memorial is so big.I saw Aberham Lincoln in side the Lincoln Memorial.There were alot of people their.It was cool!

  20. I saw Daniel Boone's monument.I saw what it looked like online.It looked like him.I finally got to see his monument.It was cool!

  21. I saw the Statue of Liberty in pictures. But not close up. I really want to see it so bad. I hope I get to go and see the Statue of Liberty.

  22. I was able to see all of the Disney characters in Disney world. Seeing the Disney characters made me happy Because they give you there autogragh.One of the characters was Mrs.Bunny.Mrs Bunny is a character on Bambi.I had an awesome time.

  23. Have you ever saw the Washington monument? Well I think you should because it is huge! The first time I went up the Washington monument is when I was five when I went up there I was so scared when looked down people were like tiny bugs like ants. I hope to go see The Washington monument again.

  24. I saw the white house. I did not actually think it was going to be that big. If I was standing on it it would be so fun to me. I really hope I get to see the white house again.

  25. I saw the Washington Mounument.It's huge and lots of people were there. The frist time I was there was last fall. I also saw lots of other sights while I was there.

  26. I went to the Bronk zoo. I saw lots of people there. I also saw animals like snakes, lions, zebras, elephants and more. I saw this train so we went and it led us lots of animals.

  27. I saw a big statue of Bengaimam Franklin. It was emense alot of people were looking at it.It sorda scared me because it looked like it was going to fall on me. I also got a mini one.But it was still heavy.An I almost droped it.

  28. I went to Utah. There you have to have 20 inches to have no school because they get a lot of snow there. I left on Chritmas day. I had to get up at 3:00 in the morning. I was really tried when I got up. I was sick the whole time I was there. I was there for week. It was my frist time on a plane.

  29. Last June when school left out, my family and I went to New York City. I saw the Empire State Building and went up to the 86th story.Then we went outside and looked down at the whole city. It was so high!

  30. One monument I want to see is the Statue of Liberty in New York. I would like to see it because I want to climb all the way to the crown and look out. Some day I hope me and my family will visit New York.

  32. My uncle went to the Eiffel Tower in Paris with my grandma and my grandma told me that if you clim to the top of the tower you can see the whole sity of Frans.I have never been there but my grandman and my uncle told me about went they went there.I wish that I could go there.

  34. I found the statue of Liberty. It repersents Libarty and Justice. My Mom and Dad said they saw the monument for a school field trip to New York.

  35. When I went to Paris I saw the Eiffel Tower. I got to go to the top. And when I got to the top I could see all of Paris!!!

  36. I don't remember seeing a monument. I like the Mount Rushmore monument though and hope I can go to South Dakota one day and see it. I think it is amazing that someone could do that on a rock.

  37. I don't remember seeing a monument. I think I saw a really big grave stone. I saw it at the grave yard I live right across from. It was really really really big.It was really old I think because it was really dirty.

  38. I saw the Seattle Space Needle and it spins while you eat. You get to see the entire city. The Space Needle is very TALL and when you go up it takes 43 seconds.

  41. I saw a momument when I was driving by in a car. I saw the staue of liberty on a rock in the ocean. and I took a ptchure of the staue of liberty

  42. I have went the Staue of liberty. I went close to the top but I got tired. So my Mom took a picture of it. It was really cool. And I said can I take a picture of it on my DS. And I did. I did stuff to the picture.

  46. I was lucky because I got to put a piece of tile on the new murel for the school.And the Artists name was Mr. Justin. Everybody in the school got to put a piece of the tile on the wall.

  48. I always wanted to go to Paris,it's my favorite state of all time!I love what they wear it's so beautiful!!!! When I grow up I hope I can get to live there!
