This weekend the
National Book Festival was held in Washington D. C. This event is held every year and it is awesome! You get to see and hear authors of many different genres. Some tell you about how they got started writing, some tell you about their writing process and some read parts of their books to the audience! One of the authors I saw was
Tomie dePaola. He has written and/or illustrated over 250 books. He is 77 years young and still writing! His advice to those who want to be writers or illustrators is to practice, practice, practice - and then practice some more.
One of my favorite characters from Tomie dePaola's books is
Strega Nona. She appears in many of his books, helping people out in one way or another. Who is one of your favorite characters from a book you have read? Tell us what you like about that character.
