February 12 is the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Many people believe he is the best president we ever had. Check out these little known facts about Lincoln. Once you read over them, write about one thing you found really interesting that you did not know before. Do you think you could have been a good friend of Abraham Lincoln? Why or why not?
Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was an extremely bright man, who was mostly self-educated. I don't know if I would have the drive to do all that learning on my own. He must have had a passion for knowledge and understanding the world. I noticed that Mary Todd Lincoln's family did not want her to marry Abraham. I wonder if they felt differently when he became president of the United States. It seems like he was such a good, kind, loving man. Wish that I would have had the opportunity to meet him as he would be a good friend and a good mentor. I wonder what I would say if I met him.

In his dream, he heard crying in the White House. When he asked the person who had died, he was told that it was the President. I think I could because in a book I read it said that Abraham was a loving kind person.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was done looking through the questions, there was one that was very weird and interesting fact about him. It was that he dreamt of his own death! It is a sad dream, because Aberham Lincon was a very, very good United States president. Another weird fact about Lincon was that he was way over average on his height. At that time, the average height for a man was 5 foot 7 inches. But he was 6 foot 4 inches. He was also the sixteenth president. In my opinion, Aberham Lincon was one of the best United States presidents ever!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

I find it both freaky and interesting that Abraham dreamed about his own death. I wonder how soon after that dream he died. I think that Abraham and I could have been friends because we share the same interest in animals.
ReplyDeleteI like Abraham Lincoln because he set free the slaves. If he didn't I would be a slave, or another president could of set slaves free also! I never knew he was the first president to have a beard. I noticed he was born in Indiana. Mr. Lincoln considered himself as a Christian, but he didn't belong to any church.

ReplyDeleteI thought the most interesting thing is Abraham Lincoln had four kids, but three kids died when they were children. The only one that got to adulthood was Robert Lincoln. Another weird fact is Abraham Lincoln only knew Mary Todd (His wife) for one year before asking her to marry him. Abraham would be a good friend because we both have the same love of animals.

ReplyDeleteAbraham Lincoln was one fantastic president. He has a lot of great facts about him. One of the facts that surprised me was how tall he was. He was six foot four. That is super tall. Another fact that surprised me was that Mary Todd's parents did not agree with the marriage. There is a few more facts that surprised me they are that Abraham did not want to kill any animals and that he had seven cats and one turkey. Another is that Abraham's mother died right after he was born because of milk sickness. I would have loved to have a chance to meet him in person. He seems like a kind person because he believed in what was right.

ReplyDeleteWow! I did not know that Abraham Lincoln suffered from headaches. And I also did not know that Abraham Lincoln was our tallest president. I didn't know that Abraham Lincoln Loved animals and never killed them even for food. Lincoln had dogs, cats and a turkey. That's weird. I think Abraham Lincoln would be a great friend because we both like cats and dogs.

A fact I learned about Abraham Lincoln is that before he got married he was very poor and he only was together with his wife Mary Todd Lincoln for one year before proposing, Mary Todd Lincolns family did not like the match. I have seen presidents that look real tall so its kind if weird to me that Lincoln is the tallest president. My mom and me wonder if their is anyone that is taller than Lincoln.
