Is math really important?

Math is one of the most important subjects we learn in school because we use it every day. Many times we don't even think about it as math though. When you check the time - math. When you count your money at lunch - math. When you check out the scores at sports events - math. When you see how tall you are or how much you weigh - math. When you bake a cake - math.

This week write about a time when you use math. Let's see who can come up with the most unusual example!

    math is very important because it will help you get smarter when you get older and when you get to college and you want have to sit there and act like you know every thing but you dont and thats why math is important.

    Hi am going to use math in basketball. I`am going to figer out how much ponits my team has at haf-time. At the end of the game I'am going to think how much the other teams ponits are.

    I used math when baking brownies with my mom. We had to follow the instructions on the back of the box, and measure the ingridents into measuring cups to bake the brownies. They turned out great. We used math!!!

    I used a yard stick which is 36 in. to measure the table to make sure my jigsaw puzzle would fit.The puzzle is 19in by 14in. I had plenty of room to do my puzzle which has 500 pieces.

    I use math in every thing I do. I use estimation
    when I do crafts. Like when I estamate to think about how much glue I will need or if I need any at all or if I need something pretty like sequences. I leaned that math is all around you and everybody els.

    I use math when I play video games. I have to count the points while I'm playing that level. Then at the end I have to count all my points that I had earned in the hole level.

    When I went shopping this weekend, I used math to figure out how much something would cost with a coupon. I saved $5.00 on my new items. I had money left over and donated $1.00 to a charity.

    Math is important because if we did not have math we would not now how to do addiction and subtraction and multiplie for example 7+2=9 that is math.

    I think math is important. Because we would not know how to do subtraction and addition like this: 4-1=3 And 4+1=5. when we get to the store when we are older I will know how to add up the cost.

    I think math is in important because you need to know how to use it.So you can buy things at the stores and know how much they cost. Now you know why math is in important to me so I can go shopping.

    I use math just about every waking moment. However, I do recall one time specifically that I used math this week. I was at the grocery store, Giant. My family is made up of two growing children and two adults who do a very good job of cleaning their plates. That's why my grocery bill is always atrocious. By that, I mean I spend a lot of money, more than I care to, but just enough to feed my family for the week. I was really jazzed this week because I have a 5% discount coupon off my entire grocery bill, which meant I had had an additional $18 savings on top of my bonus buys and coupons. That little math tidbit made me one very happy shopper!

    By the way...can you figure out how much my grocery bill was if I saved $18?

    (Boy do I wish they were accurate! I spent over double of the highest prediction!

    I used math in a game called mine trap. I had to figure out a question and there was a problem that told me this an adult went into a baby pool and bumped his head in walls twice and he wanted to find out how many diameters the baby pool was. And I gussied twenty four diameters. And I was wrong but I forgot the real answer.

    I use math to do lots of things, but Monday I counted how many bones there were in my dogs bone cage and the bone cage is probably 3 feet tall. The answer was 106 it took me 1 and a half hours I was tired when I was done and I said to myself there is 110 in each bag and there were 2 more bags of dog bones in the covered so I said to my mom I don't think you need to buy any more bags of bones because we have enough bones but I couldn't figure out how many we had exactly so I added 110+110+106 and then I just knew that 100+100+100=300 and I added 10+10+6=26 and took 300+26=326 and that's what I got.

    I use math when I am going to the bathroom. I need to count how many seconds I should wash my hands for. I usually end up washing them for like 26 seconds

    I use math when I play Madden 12, by adding up the score so far my highest score is 114 points. I also use math when my mom goes to the grocery store by trying to figure out how much will be subtracted and how much will my mom spend????

    I use math every day. Last week I used math to make my birthday cake. How I used math to make my birthday cake, I measured the ingredients and some of it was fractcions. I also use math when I go to the grocery store with my mom. My mom makes a budget but when I come with her we always go over the budget even with coupons.My mom gets a lot of gas points.

    This week the steelers a football team won they had 38 points and one touchdown is worth 7 points and a field goal is worth 3 points. So I used math to figure out how many touchdowns and field goals they had. I first counted by sevens five times and had thirty five then I added one field goal and my final answer was 38.

    I used math later this week. I'm going to the American Girls Party on October 14 with my mom. I counted how many days until the party. Thursday was the 6th, so I counted by ones. I thought, ''How many days until the party? How much will the ticket cost?'' I guessed about 9 days. I went downstairs and looked at the calender. I counted until I got to the number 14. 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14. I thought,''How many days counted are those?'' So I counted. 1,2,3,4,5,6,,7,8. 8 days was my answer. Wait a sec, that is super uper truper close to my estimate. That's how I use math.

    I use math everyday.One example is when I help my mom to cook I measure and when I measure I am doing math.I do it when I do my homework,when I look at the time,and when I add up my money I got by doing my chores.

    I use math every day when I help bake food.If I don't know fractions I could easily make the food discussing.It takes a while to understand fractions but in some point in your life you will learn fractions. fractions are a part of math.

    I watched the Penn State game on Saturday. (Penn State won!) The score was 3 to 13. I had to add the field goals which I knew were 3, and I added the touchdowns which I knew were 7. I used math to add the scores and so, Penn Stat=13, and the other team, 3. I couldn't have figured out the scores if I didn't know math.

    I use math a lot. I used math this week when I went to Zoo America in Hershey Park. We were going to my friend Sarah's birthday. We walked into Zoo America and then I said I do not know how much money I have. Then I got it out and counted it. When I walked in to the party the animal show was about to begin. I wondered how many animals there were. I counted six. When it ws time for cake I counted the candles. When The party was over we went to the gift shop. I looked at the stuff. Then I counted my money again to see what I could get. I got something for eight dollars. I looked at my money to see what was left but I only had one cents. Then I went home. That is how I used math this week.

    One the times I used math this week was when I was watching the Penguins game.When they got to the end of the game they were tied so they went to over time and nether team scored so they went to a shoot out.that is when each team gets to shoot three times one on one with the goalie.After three shots for each team if both teams are still tied after that.They do more one on one shots with the goalie.That is using math by keeping track of the scores and trust my it's harder than you might think.p.s I didn't use the score board.

    I use math when I play sports which are soccer and basketball. I know that how many points or goals that I shoot or kick. I see who scored them and then add all of it together.

    I am in 4th grade and I play a sport called, soccer. I use math with that by counting the points that we have and the points that the other team has. I also use something else with math is by counnting lunch counts everyday.

    Math is really important because you will need it for the future like for an example my mom uses math as a jewel seller because she hast to measure the buyer's neck to see if the jewel piece will wrap securely around the neck and measuring is math so that is an example of how my mom uses math
