"I" is Always a Capital Letter


I notice when some of you post your comments that you do not always make your letter I a capital. For example, you might write:

i went to the store.

when you should write:

I went to the store. 

Whenever you use the letter I to refer to yourself, it is always a capital letter.

This week we will practice making the capital I. Please write three sentences about yourself. Begin each one with a capital I. Here are several examples you can use for ideas:

I like chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.
I love my dog, Heath.
I like to sing but have a terrible voice.
I do not like really cold weather.
I love to knit.
I try to swim a few times each week.

    I, Mrs. Musone, could not agree more with Mrs. Sheffer! I recently had to tell a college student to use proper capitalization and punctuation when she interacted "professionally." I do not even think she realized there was anything wrong with using "i" to talk about herself.

    Something I love to do is run. I love to do this activity early in the morning to get my day off to a good start. Believe it or not, I find it relaxing and rewarding. I wish I could run every day, but I cannot...my body doesn't like that much running.

    There is something that I absolutely detest. That would be baked beans. I do not like the look of them, the smell of them, or the taste of them. They do not make my taste buds smile. This is unfortunate for my husband because he likes baked beans. I NEVER make them.

    I, Vivienne, absolutely, positively LOVE dogs. I have two and their names are Padfoot and Mr.Beans. I think Padfoot's still teething because he's biting me all over. I think he loves my mom most because when he's scared he always runs over to her.

    I love karate. I take it every Thursday night and I am an orange belt. I get higher belts after promotion, which is sort of like leveling up.I also get stripes, which means your getting your techniques you learned straighter.

    I love frogs. One time, my frog named Spots jumped in my hands. I was very surprised. I loved my frog, but I was sad when it got too cold and my frog left. I have two new frogs that I got for Christmas from my Nana. I feed them on Tuesday and Saturday nights. I take very good care of them.

    I am the youngest one in my family, I love to use the computer, I love to play and learn things on the computer, I love my two cats and my two gerbils, I am running out of "I" sentences to say, I have a lot of friends at school and at home, I like to do tennis and gymnastics, I do NOT like broccoli, I am in Mrs.Musone's class, I am in third grade, I like to watch TV I also like to play with my friends, I use the computers in my classroom a lot, I love my family a lot!!!!

    I,Shannon love to play with my friends outside on our bikes.We love to play and race and have Popsicles together and play with my friend Annabels cat Charlie and her two guinea pigs Victor and Oreo.

    I love to play on the internet. I like to play on webkinz. I also like to play on other sites like gamesXL and beyblade metal fushion. I like to take the computer away from my little sisters so I can play on it.

    I like to play sports. I play a variety of sports. I play softball,lacrosse,and do swimming. I have to play and do them every week. I love to play them because I like to get excersise.

    I am a 9 year old third grader at rountown and I like Phys.Ed and recess but sometimes not math.

    I like to play video games I have lots of them I even have my own xbox in my room.

    I love the Steelers I also sign up for soccer all the time I love to watch and play sports.

    I love to play xbox or basically anything with my family but mostly with my dad.

    I am Wil a 8 year old kid if you think the a am plan than you so wrong a am not plan that all for fun I go to my friends house and play their but a play a game when I get to hit him we call the game king of the hill.

    I love to play outside if I had a to go outside or clean my room like a plan old kid but a I like to go outside so much that I will go outside not even if no one told me to I will just go out.


    I hate to clean my room a think it stinks so bad I said it stinks so bad it makes me throw up it smells so bad I throw up one time that I was cleaning my room I throw up.

    I am Emma and I notice that on Edmodo people just use lower case "i".

    Something I like doing is gymnastics I once won first place when I was 6 for the first time and I was happy I had a pack of raisens so I ate them and then ripped the box in tiny pieces and threw them in the air.

    I love hockey so much that it is my second favorite sport.I am really crazy some of my friends say I am crazy.I once had to tell my brother so many times that he should let me choose what game we played after school because we have been playing Football for the past month and I don't really like to play Football.I really really really love to play Wii with my brother and sister it is super to do.I once got to stay up till like 11.00 pm because I was down stars playing Mario Bros Wii with my brother and sister and my Mom thought she put us to bed but she didn't so when she was watching T.V she herd a noise she came down stars and put us to bed.

    I agree with Mrs.Sheffer, too! I got taught that you can't write a lowercase "i". It has to be a capitol. I was taught that if you put the lowercase "i", it's sort of like something might happen to the "i". Like, the dot might get swept away.

    Here is three sentences:
    I don't like dogs but I'm getting one. I have a loft bed. I love cats.

    I Ryan LOVE to play every sport there is. I play on a team flag football, baseball,and basketball. I like to go to Olive Garden for dinner it is my favorite place to go for dinner if I could I would eat Olive Garden 3 times a week I would.

    I am Ben a 9 year old kid and I play a game called killer Aplhie! I an a volosoraptor in it other people who play are Wil,Tyler,Awas and Andew Wil is a trooper and so is Andrew Awas is killer Alphie and Tyler is a nother dinosour and we have to know were where each other lives and I know were everyone lives and I've been to Tylers house a lot! I have never been to Wil, Andrew and Awases house!

    I think it's a great game and I know Wil,Tyler,Andrew and Awas like it too!

    I am a good wide reserve in football. I play it at every reassess if we have grass but if we don't I play jack pot.


    I like to play basket ball too, I made the central basket ball team witch is a hard team to make because only 10 of the 27 kids made the team. I am lucky because most of my friends made it too.

    I also play soccer too, but I guess I don't play football I only play flag football but I play soccer to build up my endurance for football because I will play soon. I made the "a" team for soccer.

    Hi!My name is Prital.

    One thing I like is swimming.One kind of stroke that I LOVE is backstroke.It is easy and I can float very easily on my back.The one I DON'T like is a back glide.Remember when I told you I'm great at floating on my back?I made a mistake because I always sink when I do a back glide.


    Another thing I like is science.My mom told me that science has astronomy,health,and chemical reactions.I like studying about astronomy and all the planets in space.I like studying about health because I know almost every basic body part in the human body.I like chemical reactions because every Sunday my family does a chemical reaction experiment like when you mix baking soda and vinegar.Science goes great with my interests.

    Hi! I am 8 years old and in 2 months I will turn 9!! I don't like video games I LOVE THEM!!!!


    Something I like to do in my free time is to play a $6.00 game (witch was totally worth the six bucks) called infinity blade witch is on my I pod.



    I also like to watch football on sunday night football and to watch it on ESPN. I like to play tackle in my back yard 1 on 1 with my friends.




    I do not like a lot of food especially vegetables.


    I also like to play with my friends.



    Usually at my bus stop my day get's a good head start since a lot of my friends go there and we like to talk to them and sometimes I bring a game so they bend over and watch me play when I bring a game.




    Oh yeah I forgot to tell you my name is Andrew.






    At recess I play a game called Killer Alphie a couple other people play to the people that play are Awas Wil Tyler and Ben!!! I know that I like the game and that Tyler Awas Ben and Wil like it to!!!!

    I MacKenzie love I mean love basketball and soccer and everyday play those sports. I like to eat bacon everyday in the for breakfast. I also play video games if I'm bored and nothing to do at home.I like to play a soccer game that I made in my with my brother Cameron and I like to play it with him. My favorite food and drink is bacon and orange juice. I like to watch sports.

    I also love baked beans. I love the smell,taste, and the stuff around the bean.


    I also love soccer. All I love about soccer is that you can slid so I do not have some thing good to say about soccer. But I do like scoreing.

    I love playing video games more than anything else except for a couple of things. I don't like a lot of vegetables except for mashed potatoes and corn. I LOVE pizza and it is one of my favorite foods. I love playing in the snow and making snowmen and snow angels and having snowball fights etc. I like reading a LOT and one of my favorite books is Percy Jackson.

    I love ice cream, especially chocolate ice cream. I also love walking with my dog, and we take a walk almost every morning before school, except if it's raining. I do not like mushy vegetables, especially over-cooked broccoli and green beans. I like my vegetable steamed, so they are still almost crunchy.
