http://images.nationalgeographic.com/wpf/media-live/photos/000/127/cache/red-tanager_12759_600x450.jpg
Spring is on the way and that means many birds are returning to our area. I love walking early in the morning and hearing their songs. They sound so happy and carefree.

Check out some of the songbirds from our area at this website. You will have to scroll through to see them all.

After you have looked them over, select one that you liked. Write a paragraph that describes what they look like. When you are finished, boldface the adjectives you used! I am anxious to see the great descriptive words you use in your paragraphs!

  1. So glad that spring is almost here. Like you, I have noticed birds flocking back to our area. Hopefully that is a sign that warm weather is just ahead! The dusky flycatcher is one of the birds we just might see as spring comes closer. It's CIRCULAR eye is JET BLACK and SHINY. The LITTLE bird looks as though it is deep in thought. It's COFFEE WITH CREAM COLORED FUZZY feathers look SOFT and DELICATE. I wonder what this CUTE LITTLE bird sounds like when it opens it's BLACK and YELLOW POINTY beak.

  5. The bird I like is the Cerulean Warbler because it is really pretty and has nice fur. The heart of the breeding population of cerulean warblers occurs where mountaintop removal threatens the very existence of their breeding habitat and thus the future of this beautiful warbler. Neotropical migratory birds from warblers to sparrows are declining at alarming rates—rates that are not sustainable. Unless our culture sees these creatures as necessary, they will vanish into history, remembered only by photographs and paintings. I am very happy that spring is near. I have a neighborhood park around my house. There are 4 birds near my house. The humming bird, geese, songbirds, and crows. I wish the cerulean warblers could be near my house so I could visit them.

  29. The bird I found is a Macaw.Macaws are beautiful, brilliantly colored members of the parrot family.
Many macaws have vibrant plumage. The coloring is suited to life in Central and South American rain forests, with their green canopies and colorful fruits and flowers. The birds boast large, powerful beaks that easily crack nuts and seeds, while their dry, scaly tongues have a bone inside them that makes them an effective tool for tapping into fruits.
