Do you like to learn about animals? There are so many different, beautiful animals all around the world. To learn more check out the
National Geographic Kids Animal site. One great thing about this site is that it allows you to find animals based on categories. On the left side of the page, you just check off which categories from which you would like to see pictures of animals. You can then click on the pictures to learn more about one animal.
Experiment by checking off different categories and see which animals come up. Tell us a little bit about the different searches you did and which animals you thought were the most interesting.
Here is my example:
I clicked on "insects" that live in the "grassland". One of my results was a tarantula. Did you know there are hundreds of species of tarantula?
I clicked on Mammal then I clicked on living in the Ocean. One of my results was the bottlenose dolphin. I clicked on this one because it is my favorite animal. Did you know that they weigh more than a piano? They weigh 1100 pounds!

ReplyDeleteI leaned about the sea otter.Did you know that the sea otter uses a rock to crack open shellfish by putting the rock on its cheast and smashes the shellfish agent.I loved learning about the sea otter.

ReplyDeleteThe Indian Peafowl has a unique tail-feather pattern consisting of dark blue's, green's, grey-brownish, dark green's, and even some black. Jaguars are the largest big cat in South America, and the third biggest big cat in the world. They have tan fur with brownish black spots with black rings around them called rosettes.

ReplyDeleteI checked Mammals and Grassland. I found 27 results.Pigs are cooler than you think. A pig can also know as hogs or swine. Also, pigs can grow to be 600 to 700 pounds.Finally, pigs are the smartest of all domesticated animals. That is why pigs are cool. Also, I checked Birds and Grassland. I found only 6 results! Did you know that a Canada goose can fly up to 40 to 55 mph.

What is your most interesting animal? My most interesting animal is a dolphin . A dolphin is my most interesting animal because they are good swimmer. It is also my most interesting animal because they have feelings.
ReplyDeleteI like tasmanian devils. Did you know when threatened or excited the tasmanian devils ears turn bright red. They run at 15 mph.
ReplyDeleteI saw a peacock at a Lake Tobias. They are native of India and Sri Lanka. Peacocks are amazing creatures! The beautiful feathers that cover the tail of a peacock are five feet long.One peacock comes to our neighborhood early morning.We can hear him talk many times.Interestingly,the sound peacock makes is called a " SCREAM" !
ReplyDeleteI looked up the chipmunk. Did you know that there are 25 different species of chipmunks? Also 1 chipmunk can gather up to 165 acorns a day!

I looked up lion. Did you know that a lion's habitat is a desert or grassland? And that their Family name within the Animal Kingdom is Felidae? I also learned that the scientific name is Panthera leo.
ReplyDeleteI researched Jaguars. I like the print on their backs. They're also the third largest cat in the world. Jaguars are nearly endangered. Jaguars are slower than cheetahs.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite animal is a wolf because they howl and they hunt on other animals. And they remind me of my other dog murfey because he is big like a wolf. Their teeth are sharp and they are dogs to.
ReplyDeleteI like to learn about animals. I looked up reptiles in freshwater. There were a couple to learn about and I choose the green anaconda. I learned that they are in the constrictor family.

ReplyDeleteI learned about the Snowy Owl, and the Tasmanian Devil. The Snowy Owl lives up to 8 years, weighs 4.4 lbs, flies 50 mph, and is 4.4 ft. The Tasmanian Devil lives up to 7 years, is endangered, runs\scurries 15 mph, weighs 11-30 lbs, and is 25 in. I chose these animals because the Snowy Owl looked so interesting, and mysterious. The Tasmanian Devil looked so majestic, and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteMy other favorite is a giraffe did you know they grow up to 4 feet tall! Also newborns are 6 feet tall,young giraffe are called calves. Some of them die because of lions. They also sleep while sanding up. They love to eat off of tress that's why they have long necks.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite animal is a lion . i learned that prides can be as small as 3 animals and as big as 40 animals . Next, I learned that female lions can give birth at the same time. Finally , the lions roar is to make intruders to go away.That is what I learned about a lion.

They family name is Ursidae and swim 100 miles at a stretch.Their blubble ,fat , insulates them in water and they are the largest predators on land.

I picked mammals and ones that live in the forest,grass lands,and mountains.So I found the bald eagle it has a wingspan of over eight feet!
