The picture above is of a New England kitchen. What are the things you notice about how this kitchen is different from our kitchens today? Let's see how many things you can find. Do you think you would like to cook in this kitchen? Why or why not?

ReplyDeleteI don't think I would like to cook in this kitchen because it doesn't have a stove, things that need to be chilled are on the ceiling, there is no TV, you have to make your clothes by spinning the wool and then sewing it, the way they are dressed, the butter churn, the fire place, the windows and doors, the furniture, no sink, no lights, and they don't have phones. That's 14 things that are different from are kitchens today.

ReplyDeleteI Would not cook in that kitchen because it would take hours to cook one meal. Today it takes about 10 minutes to cook one meal.
ReplyDeleteI would like to cook in this kitchen for a couple reasons. First of all, I love the way food tastes when it is cooked over an open flame. That's why I grill so much. Also, the ingredients are as fresh as can be. You can see the spices and meat hanging from the ceiling. Today, we use some dried spices that can be really old and not have the same flavor.
ReplyDeleteI would NOT like to cook in this kitchen for these two reasons. I see the butter churn in the kitchen. I don't want to churn my own butter every time I need it. It doesn't look like cleaning up would be easy to do, either. I don't see a sink to wash the dishes or clean up the counters.
Do you think you would like to cook in this kitchen? Here is two reasons why I don't want to cook in this kitchen. One reason why I don't want to cook in this kitchen is that I can't reach the chicken that is hanging from the ceiling. Also, I don't want to cook in that kitchen is that I could burn myself on the pot.

It makes me feel so thankful I was born 2006 thank you Lord. if I were a pilgrim I wish I could at least have an actual market to shop at.

I would like to cook in this kitchen for a few reasons. I like old things, and to explore that kitchen and cook in it would be really cool. Another reason is I would love fresh food every meal. It sounds really good. That's why l would like to cook in this kitchen.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't cook in this kitchen because you have to make your own butter. Also, cooking over a fire seems dangerous. The fire would also make it very hot when your cooking.

ReplyDeleteI would NOT want to use this kitchen. My first reason is that the meat is hung up where bugs can get to it. The second reason is because the spinning wheel should be in the living room. My third reason is because the plates should be in a cabinet so they do not fall. I see the basket under the table and I would not want to pick my vegetables everyday.

There is no sink for water. There is no dishwasher, so I would have to put the dishes in a wheelbarrow, take them down to the creek, and wash them by hand.

I like it because it is all about predicting the future and Judy is always getting into trouble with her little brother stink, when Judy gets a mood ring and Stink takes it she gets mad and try's to prove that she deserves the mood ring, because all people who have powers such as predicting the future should ceretainly get a mood ring.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't like about this kitchen is you have to walk back and forth and when you need to cook a meal with butter you have to churn butter which takes a while. And the meat is hanging from the ceiling and if you need a piece of meat you have to get a ladder and take if off the ceiling. And you could get burnt by cooking over the fire.
